Improv
I have taken part in several projects which have explored more experimental ways of interacting with the bass Guitar. I love the bass as a driving pulse through music, especially in the realm of punk, electronic and dub, but also enjoy using pedals and bows, to produce more avant-garde sounds.
This image shows an experimental piece in collaboration with John Wild, for Sonic Artist Nicola Woodham as part of her open studios in 2022. This entailed playing a live bass score, using synthesiser and delay pedals to build a soundscape which evoked a feeling of dystopian emptiness. I think this piece was poignant in a post-covid world, where people’s fragility was still very apparent and we were coming to terms with the enormity of what we had witnessed.
